Hitchhiking Ghost 1

Hitchhiking Ghosts

From Haunted Mansion (attraction, 1969; Magic Kingdom 1971)

The Hitchhiking Ghosts are three spirits who pop up in the mirrors near the end of the Haunted Mansion, appearing to squeeze into your Doom Buggy just after the warning to beware of hitchhiking ghosts. Fans know them by name: tall, thin Ezra; Phineas with his top hat and carpetbag; and short, bearded Gus with his ball and chain.

This is one of three Hitchhiking Ghost coins in the Pin Traders set. Sources haven't said which ghost is on which coin or described the front art. The silver reverse shows the Haunted Mansion logo with Madame Leota and Constance Hatchaway.

Hitchhiking Ghosts

From Haunted Mansion (attraction, 1969; Magic Kingdom 1971)

Ezra, Phineas and Gus have been thumbing rides from guests since the Haunted Mansion opened, and they're among the attraction's best-loved characters. Their mirror gag at the end of the ride has made them a favorite subject for pins, plush and, now, medallions.

This is the second of three Hitchhiking Ghost designs in the set. Which ghost it shows, and how he's posed, hasn't been documented yet. Like the others, it has a silver reverse with the Haunted Mansion logo, Madame Leota in her crystal ball, and Constance Hatchaway, the attraction's bride.

Hitchhiking Ghost 3

Hitchhiking Ghosts

From Haunted Mansion (attraction, 1969; Magic Kingdom 1971)

The three Hitchhiking Ghosts each have a look of their own: Ezra is the tall skeletal one, Phineas carries a carpetbag and wears a top hat, and Gus is the little prisoner with a long beard and a ball and chain. Together they close out every trip through the Mansion.

This is the third Hitchhiking Ghost coin in the set. Its front design hasn't been described in the coverage we found, so check the machine's sample display to see which ghost it is. The silver reverse carries the Haunted Mansion logo with Madame Leota and Constance Hatchaway.

Hatbox Ghost

Hatbox Ghost

From Haunted Mansion (attraction, 1969; Magic Kingdom 1971)

The Hatbox Ghost is one of the Haunted Mansion's legends. He appeared in the attic when the Disneyland ride opened in 1969 but was removed almost right away, and for decades he lived on mostly in fan lore. He finally returned to Disneyland in 2015 and joined Magic Kingdom's Mansion in 2023. He is an elderly ghost in a cloak and top hat, holding a cane and a hatbox, and his head blinks between his shoulders and the box.

This coin features him, but its front art hasn't been described in detail yet. The silver reverse has the Haunted Mansion logo with Madame Leota and Constance Hatchaway.
