Simba & Mufasa

Simba, Mufasa

From The Lion King (1994)

Mufasa is the wise king of the Pride Lands, and Simba is the son meant to follow him. Early in the film Mufasa shows the young cub the kingdom from Pride Rock and teaches him about the circle of life, which makes his death in the wildebeest stampede the heart of the story.

This coin shows father and son standing together on the savanna under the African sun, framed by a silver border with a repeating geometric pattern. The reverse carries the Disney Conservation Fund logo surrounded by animal silhouettes, a nod to the park's focus on wildlife.

Simba & Friends on Pride Rock

Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa

From The Lion King (1994)

After running away from the Pride Lands, Simba grows up with Timon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog, who teach him their carefree Hakuna Matata philosophy. His childhood friend Nala finds him and urges him to come home and stand up to Scar, and the four end the film back at Pride Rock.

The coin brings all four together on Pride Rock under a bright blue sky. A gold border with a repeating triangular pattern sets it apart from the silver coins in this set.

Scar & Hyenas

Scar

From The Lion King (1994)

Scar is Mufasa's jealous younger brother, who plots his way onto the throne by arranging the stampede that kills the king and then convincing young Simba to run away. His foot soldiers are the hyenas, led in the film by Shenzi, Banzai and Ed, who are promised they will never go hungry again once Scar is king.

On this coin Scar sits at the center with hyenas all around him. The silver border has a repeating geometric pattern, matching the Simba and Mufasa design.

Coin 4 of 4

Unidentified fourth design

From The Lion King (1994)

The machine outside Zuri's Sweets Shop offers four Lion King medallions, but published coverage so far describes only three of them: Simba with Mufasa, Simba and friends on Pride Rock, and Scar with the hyenas.

The design of this fourth coin hasn't been documented yet, so we don't know which characters or scene it shows. If you have bought this coin, a photo of the front and back would help complete this entry, and we'll update the checklist as soon as the design is confirmed.
