Coin 1 of 4
Engineer Mickey (Locomotive 58444)
Mickey Mouse
From Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has circled Magic Kingdom since the park opened in 1971, with stations on Main Street, U.S.A., in Frontierland and in Fantasyland. Its four steam locomotives were built by Baldwin in the early 1900s and brought from Mexico to be restored for the park. Mickey's love of trains reflects Walt Disney's own, which started the whole tradition of park railroads.
This coin from the retired railroad set shows Mickey in railroad gear. Early reports describe him as a conductor, while later ones call him an engineer. Its locomotive side carries the number 58444, according to reports published when the set was replaced, though accounts differ on whether the set was colorful or bronze-toned.
